Trying to install a 2nd SATA cd/dvd drive

November 10, 2011 at 12:48:18
Specs: Windows 7
Can I purchase a "splitter" for the larger of the two red cables that attaches to the Sata drive? I have the smaller cable that goes to the mother board, but I don't see an available second cable. I think it is the power cable.

As long as you are sure it's a power cable (comes from the PSU) and not a data cable, then yes you can buy a splitter for it, though you may have to source it online.
There's an example here: http://www.lindy.co.uk/sata-power-s...

SATA drive data cables cannot be split or shared with a second drive like the old IDE drives can, so make sure it's not the data cable you're wanting to split as it can't be done.
