The interface connector is usually a screw-on part on what is otherwise a standard drive.

I have had to retro-fit a number of slimline DVD drives and the mounting brackets and adapters come off using jewellers screwdrivers( Just tiny compared to others) and screw straight onto the replacement generic drive.
