trouble reading zif 1.8 on ide

Specs: xp, 1100 mghz
I have an hp mini that died. I am trying to read the ssd zif hd by connecting to an ide interface on an older computer using an adapter made to convert the zif to ide but my computer wont recognize it. Thanks in advance for any help

WinXP can't natively configure SATA hard drives. If the adapter is actually working you may find the hard drive listed in Windows Disk Management. You may also need to take ownership of the files/folders. See the first link below to learn how.

If the drive doesn't show in Disk Management then do yourself a favor and just buy an external universal adapter that will work. See the second link below.

Also consider the possibility the SSD is dead.

Might be that.

Might try to see if linux can read it. There are a lot of issues. One is the old system. It may not be able to support the chs of the drive, the size of the drive. It might be that that drive is not a true drive and needs a special adapter. Might be that xp can't support it.

I'd boot to a live linux cd and see if it can mount and read it, best on a newish system.
