my transcend 1 TB external hard drive which i bought about a year ago only works in one of my laptop and needs to be connected via multiUSB port for it to work in that laptop. in any other laptops the led light is on but not blinking and the laptop doesn't detect the hard disk.
need help please.
Do all the laptops have USB 3 interfaces? It may be that USB 2 can't supply enough current to power the drive reliably. It's possible to get Y-cables that have two USB plugs to double the current available. (Note that the "Troubleshooting" section in the user manual mentions this possibility.)

It will come down to power requirements. Depending on the laptop and USB port power configuration, the USB max output current may not be enough to spin up the Transcend drive.
A typical USB port output power is max 500 mA. The Transcend needs 600 mA,
USB ports can be configured to "Charging mode" that could produce 900 mA.
