tower won't turn on

February 10, 2010 at 13:07:13
Specs: Windows 22.12.2009
i have an older tower (says Nobilis on fron panel) that was working fine. The power switch started to act up meaning sometimes I would have to hold it in until the computer powered up. Now, nothing happens when I push the switch. I pulled the switch and checked it with a ohm meter and do get a reading when the button is depressed. IS there anything else I may be able to check before it goes off to the repair house?

Try shorting the terminal on the Mobo with a screwdriver. If it boots up, then it's the switch.Place a screwdriver blade across the 2 posts that the switch plugs into.

Make sure you only short the 2 pins for a second...do NOT leave the blade shorting the pins for any longer than that. If it doesn't boot imediately when you touch the 2 pins, you have a problem unrelated to the switch.
