Specs: Windows 7
Laptop = Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo Laptop

Hi all,

Bought a laptop on ebay from a online shop, refurbished.. and when I received it, it had an overheating problem - basically it tripped off after 30mins of use, when battery fitted and Mains connected. with the battery removed and powered with the mains supply only, it did not overheat at all. - I contacted the laptop shop, explained the problem, and they confirmed the battery may be un-serviceable. they sent me a "new" battery.

I received the replacement battery, and when the new battery is fitted, it will not boot at all. it freezes on the Bios screen. If the battery is removed and only the mains supply is connected the laptop will boot and work fine.

I have returned the laptop to them but they will not repair it as I have had it 2 months. They will return it to me this week.

- can anyone confirm whether it is the "replacement battery" causing this? or whether it is possibly something on the motherboard? - obviously don't want to buy a battery if i don't need to. Can I test the battery??

- Note = the replacement battery could be a "made in china special" lol.. - its not a genuine Toshiba battery.

Very Many Thanks in Advance..

Regards, Kevin

Well there you are then. Never buy a new laptop battery from anywhere other than from the laptop manufacturer. Sure, it's more expensive, but there are good reasons for that (and no, you're not "paying more just for the name" in this instance).
