Toshiba satellite laptop not booting up.

September 5, 2010 at 22:47:42
Specs: Windows Vista, Athlon x2 / 3gb ram
I have a Toshiba laptop that won't boot up, no hard drive activity light, I only hear the fan and cd drive when pressing the power button. I pulled the hard drive and rams from this Toshiba and tested them on my Thinkpad laptop and everything works. I then tried the hard drive from the Thinkpad on the Toshiba, and had the same thing, it won't boot up. Is this a mainboard issue? Kindly give some info on where to go next. I've been trying to resolve this for the last 3 days. Thanks

If you put the hard drive inot another laptop and the hard drive is not allowing boot, then maybe the hard drive is toast ??

No, the hard drive of this Toshiba is booting up on my Thinkpad just fine, and I can access and run everything. The hard drive on my Thinkpad is fine, but when tried it on the Toshiba it won't boot either.

Check the RAM. Pull one out and see if it will boot, if it won't pull the one in there out and put the 1st one back in and see if it will boot. I had similiar issue with my Toshiba and it was caused by bad RAM.
