toshiba laptop white band down screen

Specs: Windows 7
My laptop screen has developed a white band running from top to bottom of the screen which obliterates images.

is the laptop overheating? check its temperatures download speedfan(google) or hwmonitor(google) and check its temps post them here.

Many thanks for your comments. I do not have a problem with the temperature and always use a cooling fan. Someone did say they wondered if my crystal display had gone but being a novice I can only assume that is something do with losing some visual effects down the middle of the screen. My laptop is 3 years old but up until this happened, I have never had any kind of a problem

usually white bands appear for many reasons. we have to consider everything. now if everything is like i understood than this white band could be because of the screen resolution the pixels are going haywire leading to a bad connection in the laptop try changing resolutions.If the line stays in the same position when altering the resolution, you need a new screen. try reinstalling graphics drivers. of all else fails than u need a repair engineer
not that screen is lit up by transistors
to make sure that the problem is from the laptop:connect another monitor to it and see if it happens
