toshiba laptop freezes at logo

Toshiba Satellite a75-s2112 laptop batte...

Specs: Windows xp, 512mb
i have a toshiba satellite a75-s2112, it worked fine before, now i can't get into bios. nothing has been changed ram,hd etc. it freezes at logo with no sign of power only to the light to show it is on power connector. no keyboard, mouse or dvd drive will work???? i just got this from someone saying it was fine. thank you for any help you can give

I would start by replacing the AC power adapter, they are real inexpensive anymore:

Even if the light is on the adapter doesn't mean it is giving sufficient power to run the laptop.

thank you for your reply.. i have another problem.. before your info. i put it upon myself to replace cmos battery... whew! i got it back together and all parts. now the screen won't show. but it will power on?? thanks again!

removing the bios battery in a laptop is a real chore. You may have messed up while putting the laptop back together, check all your connections.
