Specs: Windows 7, Pentium 4
my toshiba laptop L455 will not turn on. plugged in or not. when plugged in the ac indicator light is green and battery light is amber the on/off light is off. when i unplug all lights go off. I've tried taking out battery, pressing on/off button for 30 seconds etc...Toshiba wants me to mail it to them, with 160.00 (it's out of warranty) and MAYBE they can fix it and apply the 160.00..Also took it to the Best Buy Geek Squad. Best Buy is where I got it. Anyway the "kid" took it in the back for no more than 4 minutes and said the mother board was fried but they have a "huge" selection of new laptops etc etc. He didn't even open it up and take it apart!! I asked how he knew this and he said he just knew. Long story but I need advice on how to fix this. Csn the battery be dead already after 18 months only?

Is there something that happened that you haven't mentioned ?

Have you, or is it possible someone else who had access to this computer...
- dropped it, or dropped anything on it, or otherwise exposed it to a physical jolt ?
- spilled liquid on it, or sprayed it with liquid, or exposed it to liquid such as rain ?

Since the lasptop last worked properly all the time, has there been a power failure event that happened while the AC adapter was plugged in ?

Those things are the most frequent reasons something inside the laptop has been damaged.
