TinyXP failed to install - how do I clear HDD

December 25, 2010 at 12:15:51
Specs: TinyXP
I had a burnt disc with TinyXP on it and tried to install it as my OS and it failed (probably because the disc was scratched) and so I burnt a new disc, but when I turn on the laptop (Dell Inspiron 1521) it goes straight to a bluish screen and says "Restarting setup" and goes strait to the error page saying that it failed. I've tried hitting F12 on startup and putting the new disc in and booting off the CD drive but then it goes to the same exact place. It's like it doesn't even know that a new disc is in there. Please help!

Assuming you're willing to start entirely from scratch, just boot off the Vista disk, delete the current partition(s), repartiton, format as NTFS, then continue with the installation.

EDIT: you may have to enter the BIOS to change the boot order. Make sure CD is listed before HDD.

When I try to boot off the CD it goes to the same place where XP failed and tells me to insert the XP disc but it is scratched and doesn't work.
