Thumbdrive is locked, no properties

September 22, 2011 at 09:35:41
Specs: Windows 7, DOS
I have a flash drive (not an SD card) that the properties are write protected. I have tried changing the regedit file, reformatting, and everything I can think of (outside of purchasing a new drive) and I have not been able to remove the write protection. Any help would be appreciated.

If it has a little switch on the side of the housing, flip it in the opposite direction it's in now. If not, check the manufacturer's website for more info.

Makers of the cards usually offer a tool to unlock it. Stay away from registry edits.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
