Thinkpad i-series 1400 Type 2621-483

April 12, 2010 at 15:18:39
Specs: Windows Vista
I have removed the keyboard and now see the system board but nothing that looks like the hard drive or its caddy. This does not agree with illustrations in the Hardware Maintenance Manual issued in 1998 (page 58). Where is it?

Thanks, that link got me to the correct manual. The illustrations in it showed the hard disk accesible from the front bottom of the computer. They are quite different from the drawings in the 1998 version.

Ray, this might be a good time to download everything available from Lenovo for your laptop.

I've noticed lately that no information or downloads have been available for a couple types of IBM machines; best to have everything you might need burned on a cd for future use.

With all my efforts to find the hard disk, I have damaged my Thinkpad so much that it is no longer prudent to continue efforts with it. Now I plan to take advantage of the hard disk only. How does one locate the switches for setting as slave or master?
