U have vista 32bit and it only recognize up to 3gb sometimes 3.2 or 3.5gb. U need any os with 64bit. Eg xp 64bit, vista 64bit, win 7 64bit.
9500gt isn't a good card.

If you are using a 32 bit OS there is no solution.
The problem is that you have a 4GB address space, which must be shared by both RAM and memory mapped hardware devices. If you have 4GB RAM there simply isn't room for all of both and some memory is inevitably lost. Memory mapped hardware always must have priority or the system will not operate. This is really a hardware issue, not a problem with Windows. Only with a 64 bit version of Windows will you be able to use all 4GB of memory.

"i just bought 4 gb of ram with 2 slots and 1 gb nvidia geforce 9500 gt"

Why would you buy a 9500GT for gaming? See the following charts. Notice that the 9500GT is last in all comparisons & doesn't put out enough FPS for the game to be playable at the resolutions used. You will have to run your games on very low settings:

"it shows that am only have 3096 of ram :S:S how can i fix it"

The only way to "fix" it would be to install a 64-bit OS. I wrote this explanation about 2 yrs ago:

"my cpu is 3.4 intel pentum 4 is this proccesser have enough power to handle these games"

The P4 isn't a great CPU but your problem is the weak video card. You would have been better off with 2-3GB RAM & a better video card.

Modern titles with 9500gt and p4 cpu? Mh! U have big problem. Gta iv is very demanding game. Between 1440x900 & 1024x768 there's a little difference. I recommend playing old games.

Adding gaming v-card and ram would help. With p4 cpu u won't go anywhere, even if u install hd 5970. To get a real picture of what iam saying check the system requirements for those games.

In your original question you wrote "i just bought 4 gb of ram with 2 slots and 1 gb nvidia geforce 9500 gt", so all this time you've been lying? You haven't bought a thing yet?

OK, so you lied. You wasted our time for at least 11 messages before you admitted that you haven't even bought anything yet. Here's you're answer....

Your system is old/outdated & your P4 CPU sucks. Not to mention you've asked about crappy low end video cards (9400GT, 9500GT) that aren't worth a sh!t when it comes to modern gaming. Don't waste your money.

The Issue is NOT because of the OS being 32 bit. That is a down right lie by Microsoft so they can sell you a more expensive piece of software. The truth is that the P6 line(Pentium Pro and higher) and netburst arc.(pentium 4) have a 36 bit address bus. They can natively address 64gb's of physical RAM without using any kind of bank switching. The mode is called PAE and Windows XP 32 bit supports it, but it must be turned on by the user.

Edit: He hasn't even purchased it yet?

PowerMac 9600(1 ghz G4)
512mb RAM
50gb SCSI
ATi 9200 PCI

x.

I am not a game player at all so I don't keep up with the card progression. That said, the 9500GT came out a long time ago.

Gamed makers will list the minimum hardware requirements to play but don't tell you that using the minimum hardware will result in a less than satisfactory experience.

By that time you are invested in the game and will upgrade your hardware. That is the reality of the situation.

I suggest you go to a forum for whatever game you want to play and post a question there concerning graphics card requirements.

OK , thx dude but i wanna ask a final question which one is faster windows xp 64 bit or windows xp 32 bit (for gaming)?

That really isn't an issue. Assuming the game is ported to 32 bit then it isn't going to run any faster in 64 bit version of Windows unless you could take advantage of more than 4 GB of RAM, which I doubt.

On the other hand you may not find the necessary drivers for your hardware in 64 bit versions.

Stick with 32 bit. Don't confuse the graphics card memory bandwidth with any of what has been talked about above.

Post what type of graphics slot you have and how much cash you want to spend and someone here will recommend a card or two. May even provide a link.

What country are you in?
