the external mouse is working on my laptop

Specs: Windows 7
the mouse i usually use is no longer working in my laptop, when i check the hardware under device manager in the control panel it says this device is working properly, but the cursor is not moving. when i put the same mouse in another laptop it is working, and when i try another mouse on my laptop it is still not moving the cursor but it is detected. now am using the touchpad but since am working with maps the touchpad is not effective at all. what should i do?

Try disabling the touchpad as there may be a conflict between the two.
Control Panel > Mouse
Click Device Settings tab, this is settings for the touchpad.
Click the tick-box for "Disable internal pointing device when a USB pointing device is attached"
Click 'OK'

Also there is a option to disable touchpad in BIOS.
