If you are trying to run XP with 120 MB RAM that is your problem. You need more RAM, or better yet, a newer computer. Doing anything fast with your computer is not going to happen.

"You need more RAM, or better yet, a newer computer. Doing anything fast with your computer is not going to happen."

Agreed. XP needs at least 512MB of RAM (preferably 1GB or better) to run decently, and a 500MHz Celeron CPU only makes things worse.

Puppy Linux 5.28 Lucid or Windows Millennium Edition.

Purchasing more memory would cost more than the actual PC's value..

XP should have never been installed on that system. Win98SE or WinME will run OK, but IE6 is no longer supported by many websites & there are very few anti-virus programs available. Puppy Linux or one of the other lightweight Linux distros will probably be your best option.

Here's a list of Linux distros recommended for old computers:

The specified minimum RAM for XP is 64 MB and it will indeed run with that little RAM. But it will be very slow.

But that was in 2001 when XP was released. With SP2 and a modern browser and other software that is no longer realistic. Now you need a minimum of 512 MB RAM for decent performance but 1 GB is better.
