t42 thinkpad will not find DVD or HDD

Specs: Windows XP
Hi Guys,

i have just replaced the MB on a T42 thinkpad as the previous one had damaged components, before the components were damaged the laptop booted and worked perfectly!

now i have swapped out the damaged MB for a new one and the t42 will now start up in bios and i can see the HDD0, HDD1, DVD0 and DVD1 in the boot list and i can change the priority.

however when i restart the unit it just tells me that an OS cannot be found!!

any ideas on a solution to this?

thanks in advance

Kieran

So there is a problem with the boot sector of HDD0. Will it boot with a live CD?

How did you identify the "damaged components" in the original mother board?
