Solved system32 folder opens on startup

June 28, 2011 at 10:35:58
Specs: Windows XP Prof SP3, 135GB - 1.95 gig
In Registry -Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, there is a data file called: -scheduler. The line reads: Name - isuspm, Type - reg_sz, Data -scheduler
Nothing is in quotes. Could this be causing the folder to open?

And were there any invalid entries as mentioned in the MS link?

The line you asked about originally shouldn't be causing a problem but I think you can disable it if you run MSCONFIG and click the startup tab.

And try the kellys korner fix.

Some other sites direct to a fix here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_...

Go down to line 260 and download the 'system32 folder opens upon boot' file.

I don't know if that's a different approach to the problem or if it's just a script that removes the invalid entries mentioned in the MS link.

I've tried the disable--it did not work. I've tried some registry fixes-no luck. And, I have also tried Kelly's and that did not work. System32 folder still comes. Doesn't hurt anything but is annoying,

That was all I could find about that particular folder opening in XP. There was something kind of the same with 98:

You might check the MS link for that but be careful before applying the same fix for XP.
