I am a Newbie asking for help. I had to replace the hard drive on a HP DV2000 laptop running Vista Home Premium o/s. Unfortunately the recovery disc was misplaced. I have another set of recovery discs (8cds) from another identical hp dv2000 laptop(same specs) and tried system recovery on the new hard drive. Half way thro the 1st disc, it said this disc is not for this computer..I suspect that the OEM o/s is "tatooed" to the laptop model no.. Can anyone help me to get around this ? May be change the model no on the recovery cd ? Delete a certain file on the cd ? I have both Vista Key No.s. (laptop&recovery cd.)
