I am betting you have a lot of processes running when the computer starts like 60-70. Many of these take up resources like memory which is used when you open a document. Do you have things like instant meesangers running at start up? If you have downloaded things like quicktime player for one by default they may be running at start up also. You may want to check the set up on these types of items to see if they are set to come on when windows starts. If you want them on then that's ok but it is not needed you can start them when you use them.
I want to go like my grandfather did. Peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming at the top of my lungs like the passengers in his car.
