Switching to a sleeping PC through KVM does not wake up

February 24, 2019 at 14:04:45
Specs: Windows 10
I have two Windows-10 connected to a two port KVM (IOGEAR). Say I am currently switched to PC-2 and working and PC-1 goes to sleep. Now I switch my KVM to select PC-1. Hitting keyboard or clicks don't wake up PC-1. The only way is to touch the power button.

But say KVM is switched to PC-1 and PC-1 goes to sleep. Now hitting keyboard or clicking mouse wakes it up. In other words, the USB is appropriately configured to wake up PC.

If I switch to other computer and come back, it will not wake up the PC.

I have checked BIOS settings. I have also checked the power-management for USB port, as not to turn it off.

Any tips will be very handy.

While it refers to a Win7 machine, this may be of some assistance:

I would guess that your power settings are different on the two machines. See Control Panel> Power Options.

In the dim ‘n distant past I found that some kvm kit was’t always happy with the usb aspect. But quite happy with ps2 systems. Using a ps2 to USB adapter also wasn’t always successful over kvm.

They were (likely still are) used in broadcast studios and associated control rooms etc.

This was with kit such as Rose. There was another brand too but just now can’t recall it.
