It all depends what you want to use it for and how many monitors you want to connect to it, so you need to post more information.

You can install any PCIe x16 card, but make sure the PSU is powerful enough for the model you install.

"also i want to upgrade my RAM"

That should be your 1st move & it should be at least DDR3-1333 but DDR3-1600 would be better.

"The PSU is 400 W"

What make/model? If it's a low end cheapie, you might wanna consider upgrading it before installing a video card. Your CPU alone is rated at 125W. I assume the video upgrade is for gaming? GDDR5 memory is the way to go.

Have a look at this article: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...

With that wattage, you are probably limited to the GTX750 Ti which is more energy efficient than anything else in its graphics class. With an upgrade to the PSU, you will have more options.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Your PSU is a low end piece of dung & is based on the extremely outdated ATX v1.3 standard. It only has 14A on the +12v rail & I believe you have a 125W CPU, correct?

125W / 12v = 10.416A for the CPU. That leaves less than 4A for the rest of the hardware. I'm surprised your system runs at all!
