The other day I tried installing an old Logitech webcam and it doesn't work on Windows 7. This could've caused the problem.

Now I've got the little speaker icon w/ a red X. When I try to update driver, reinstall driver, it says the driver may be corrupt.

When I look at device manager, there are no signs of anything wrong, such as question marks or exclamation points.

Troubleshooting report says "Window Update configured to never install drivers" issue not present... so should I change this and how do I do that?

Correction: There ARE exclamation points on all the sound controllers! They all say:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
