sound issues with dell latitude d610

Specs: Windows XP
i have sound fine on laptop, while playing music, dvds, etc. however while online, mulitplayer racing game, the sound of my car sounds like an indy car verses a regular race car, have tried numerous drivers, different settings, nothing seems to resolve problem and its making me crazy! any and all info would be greatly appreciated....use windows xp, has sigmatel sound. if more info is needed please let me know what else i can give you information-wise and i will gladly do so,,,all i want is this simple fix, that seems to be so difficult to accomplish...thanks a bunch!

What exactly is that supposed to mean? If it's the wrong car sound, that's the websites issue not a driver, sound card or OS issue There isn't anything you can do about it.

its not a game from a website, its a cd, and i know the sound driver is conflicting somewhere, just dont know where to begin to solve the problem, game is installed on three other computers and is fine, just trying to find a starting place to troubleshoot the problem on the laptop

It would help if you could clarify what you mean by "the sound of my car sounds like an indy car verses a regular race car". Are you saying the pitch is different or?

Is the game designed to run on the operating system you are using? You said you tried different settings. What settings did you change, what have you tried?
