Sound doesn't come out, but says it's there.

Specs: Windows Vista, i7-900 series/6 GigsRAM
New MOBO eVGA X58 SLI3 - Motherboard - ATX with built-in Realtek HD Audio right now the driver version is 6.0.
I play any sound file, and it shows that it's coming out of the Realtek Digital Output, Realtek HD Audio-working. I set it as default, nothing is coming out of the headphones, speakers.
But! when I plug in the headphones the Realtek Audio Manager comes up, asks what device I plugged in, I select headphones. Sound test comes up, and I hear the sound test with the headphones. But, I don't hear the Videos, Songs, or any other sound file with the headphones outside the Audio Manager.
Appreciate any help, feedback, walk-through.

It obviously works so it must just be a setting. Did you look in Control Panel > Sound? Did you try right clicking on the volume icon in the task bar & checking the settings there? Do you have the proper playback device selected?

Right click on your speaker icon, not the realtek icon. Select playback devices, and click on "speakers" "Realtek high definition audio" Now click the "set default" button.

Also, I know you just rebuilt everything, are you using the rear audio output? or the front?

Also does your case have two sets of front panel audio connectors for the motherboard? There should be one for HD and one for AC97. The one that you want to use is the HD one, if applicable.
