February 16, 2011 at 11:00:21
Specs: Windows XP
I keep getting operating system not found. I did not get a start up disk from Circuit City where I bought it. I can not get it to do anything. If I turn off and start it up again, same thing. It just all of a sudden did this. I've not done any changes to the computer.

Thanks but it didn't work. I've been on the phone w/Sony and I need a recovery disc which I did not get when I got the laptop. And/or a DOIS (not sure, it's OIS something) Password? I don't remember a password. When I bought it at circuit city, they has it all set up and ready to go. Sony said that would let me know if it is a software or hardware problem. The hardware is still under warranty but the software is not.

as far as password, leave that blank if a password was not set. How much are the recovery discs?

Another thing I will mention is that if it has a bios password installed, the only way to get past it is to contact sony and they will have to reset it in their repair depot, no 3rd party software will do it for you. Good luck

$28.00 for the disk, shipping etc. Yes Sony told me they would have to be the one to reset and that is $49.95.

Thanks for the input.
