Why would you have to rebuild your computer because of a virus?

I'm guessing that rather than attempting to remove the virus & leaving the OS intact, you decided to wipe the HDD & start from scratch? Regardless, why would you be running a 64-bit OS if you only have 1GB RAM? or even 2GB for that matter? Are you running something that requires 64-bit?

I run lots of programs like autocad and and such. Why rebuild because of a virus because i deleted few registry items that i shouldn't have and messed my com up. Like i said if you read the post. I'm adding more ram. Just put another 2 gig on it and will be putting another two on this weekend. Was thinking of putting in a 2t hard drive but think it would be a waste. So i will build one up at a later time. I figured out what was wrong i copied my vista on to a disk and could not get it to load so i put the 32 bit vista on. What i needed to do was go into the bios and set it up to boot dvd first. Installed and worked like a charm. Now I'm back to 64 bit vista. Thanks to those who tried to help.
