Soltek mobo BIOS won't recognize new 40GB HDD

Hi everyone,
I fall in a very big problem. I live in a remote village of Bangladesh. there are no any hardware expart so there are nobody who can help me. so i came here to disturb you. pls dont mind. i am realy in problem. i want to set a new 40 gb harddisk on my old soltek motherboard. my old 8gb harddisk has dameged so i want to replace it with a new hd. but mother board did not read it on booting.

Which type of hard disk u have used for 8 gb and 40 gb.Then are u able to view the hard disk details on BIOS.

If the motherboard is very old (roughly 1998 or before) it may not recognize a drive that large. Older BIOS limits varied between 504MB and 8GB:

There were also "software limits" depending on the OS (probably not a factor in your case):

Also make sure you have the drive setup properly "jumper-wise".
