solid amber light nothing else

Specs: Windows XP
system spec:
mobo: asus k8s-la 754socket
old cpu: amd athlon 64 3400+ 754 socket (cpu label code: ada3400aep5ar)
new cpu: amd athlon 64 3400+ 754 socket (cpu label code: ada3400aep5ap)

The other day, there was a problem with my heatsink. When i turned on my computer for about 15 minutes, it would get overheat and turn itself off. when i open the case up and try to clean the heatsink because it was filled with dust and dirt. Upon doing that i damaged the cpu because it was stuck tight to the heatsink like superglue. I end up getting a new CPU. but now nothing is booting up except the solid amber light. The only thing that came on was the PSU fan.
Here's what i did so far:
reset cmos
benchtest
reseated rams/video cards
replug all the cords
but still no luck. I'm thinking its the mobo. any suggestion would be apperciate.
Thanks

maybe looks like a dumb question, but did you install cpu properly ?

is the cpu supported by the motherboard ?
