Sometimes if the manual eject button does not open the CD tray right clicking on it in My Computer and selecting Eject from the menu is enough to open the tray.
If not then there is usually a manual tray release that is often just a tiny hole that you insert a straightened paperclip to activate.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If you get it open but the problem persists you need to replace the drive.

Sounds like the drive has failed, you can remove the drive pretty easily, there will be one screw at the back of the laptop which will be holding it in, then all you have to do is pull it out.

You can open the tray by inserting a paper clip into the small pin hole next to the eject button, this will manually release the tray door and will allow you to pull the drive out.

ebay and other sites have replacement drives very cheap, you should be able to swap it out very quickly.

The power boards on these drives tend to be the thing that fails and although it can be repaired or replaced it may be easier to just swap the drive out, unless you know how to repair a board?
