Smith Corona SD 800 typewritter as printer?

Specs: Linux i686
I do see this is a very old post, but want to do the same thing. What's with all the nay sayers that have no idea anyway? I have both types of serial cables. Just going to give it a try. Well, actually, one cable is on the way. Saw something in the manual that made me think it was possible. Btw, daisy wheel printing is one of the best Letter Quality deals! Either way, I don't expect it to take long to test once I have the cables. I'm hoping to attempt simply sending text via dos. I have other printers, Dot Matrix and a few Ink Jets. Hoping to get a little nostalgic too, I guess. Ribbons are STILL readily available btw. Happens to be a very popular type.

Hi Yamaha,

be sure which type of Interface the Corona has - serial or parallel.(Centronics)

They cannot be connected to each other, otherwise (serious) damage can occur.

Once you get it working it will be interesting if Drivers can be found, so it can be used
with an old (dos) Word Processor or whatever.

Good Luck - Keep us posted..
