Slave Hard Drive not visable

Maxtor 250gb sata 7200rpm 8mb 3.5in 3.5...

Specs: Windows XP
Recently I built up a system with a new 500G HD and all went well. I added my 250G HD from my old computer as a slave as it had all of my data on it, but it was partitioned into two sizes as well as had my XP operating system on it (c was OS and d was data). So I transfered my data to the new drive from the old and I then wanted to wipe clean and reformat the 250G drive. Following some info that I found on the web, now I cant see the drive, it comes up as 0 on the disk manager, but cant be seen in My Computer. Just want to find it again, remove the partition and reformat to its max size so I can use it as storage for music, pictures etc. I know enough about computers to be dangerous to myself but not enough to solve this issue... :-) any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks folks!!!

IS being detected in the BIOS enviroment? if yes check your master /slave configurations or the hard drive boot order.

When I fired up the system and got into the BIOs fields, Went through all of the screens and in the BOOT section it does list the drive, so it is seen. The Master/Slave configs are set correctly from what I can see. So now what do I do? Appreciate your help.
