If you already have Windows XP on your main drive you don't need another copy. The system only needs one installation of the operating system, not one per hard disk.

Just install the second disk, format it, and it will be available for storage.

Providing the disk is in good working order that is all you need do. Might not even have to restart. Windows XP should pick it up as soon as the format is complete.

How big is your primary HDD? How much free space is left? How big is the slave? Is there anything you need/want to get off it before you format?
