Should we work on battery power only ?

Specs: Windows 7
I was told by a laptop battery seller that one should use his laptop on battery power only. If battery power goes to low level then only one should use a/c power for working as well as recharging the battery to100% level. As soon as battery gets 100% recharge, a/c power is to be stopped and can continue work again on battery for long batter life. Is it true or not. I request/welcome the seniors/experts advice

It used to be the case with older batteries - it was called the 'memory effect'. Modern batteries do not suffer from it to anything like the same extent, but I always advise new laptop owners to just do a full charging cycle twice - charge/discharge, charge/discharge - then use as you want, shouldn't make any difference but (1) it can't do any harm & (2) it gets users aware of how long their battery should last.
