|Obviously Windows 7 isn't able to recognize the phone automatically. If isn't able to recognize the phone, it can't recognize the SD card when it's installed in the phone. |
You must install software for the phone according to the installation directions in order for Windows to recognize the phone properly.
If the phone came with a CD or DVD, the software you need to install is probably on that.
If it didn't come with a CD or DVD, or if it did but you have misplaced it or the if software you need for Windows 7 is not on the disk, go the the manufacturer of the phone's web site and download the software for your phone model.
(If there is no software for Windows 7, software for Vista will usually work fine in Windows 7.)
DO NOT plug in the USB cable from the phone into a USB port connected to your computer BEFORE you have installed the software for it, unless the installation directions tell you otherwise.
DO NOT point Windows to where drivers for the phone are when Found New Hardware pops up for the phone BEFORE you have installed the software for it, unless the installation directions tell you otherwise.
If Windows doesn't recognize the phone when you plug in it's USB cable after you have installed the software for it according to the installation directions, you probably need to plug the USB cable for the phone into a different USB port.
