Specs: Windows XP
I bought a Gateway laptop, model M465-E, used. Seller wiped hard drive. I have an XP install disc, but after it loads, it says I need a manufacture's setup disc because it can't find the hard drive. Anyone know where I can get one? Gateway keeps running me around. Contact me at: Thank you.

Edit out your email address before the spammers search engines find it and you get junk email forever. NEVER put your email address in open text on the internet.

We work on the forum anyway and only use email in rare instances when there is a requirement to send a file to a poster. You are supposed to come back and look for responses (help) to your post.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If you go into the BIOS set up and set the SATA hard drive to emulate a PATA (EIDE) drive during the installation of Windows XP. After Windows is loaded you then download and install all of your drivers including the SATA driver (chipset driver first, video driver second, then others), Then go back into the BIOS and return it to the faster SATA setting. Return to Windows, do your windows updates, install your antivirus program, and continue to personalize it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
