Set NIC as boot device and PXE

September 20, 2011 at 05:24:27
Specs: Windows 7
A user recently purchased a Samsung Notebook NP300U1A. I need to set the NIC to boot w/PXE. When I press Enter on the NIC to enable it as a boot device, it's supposed to open up the options with a sub menu for the NIC. It doesn't. Nothing happens. Anyone have an experience with this model? Samsung Help has not been....

Thanks much

"When I press Enter on the NIC to enable it as a boot device, it's supposed to open up the options with a sub menu for the NIC"

I've never seen it presented that way in any BIOS Setup I've been in (and that's quite a few). Usually, in BIOS Setup, you need to select BOOT in the top menu. You then get three, four or five boxes to set each boot device in your preferred order.

Then it's F10 to save and exit.

The devices are there in the Boot Menu. The only one selected as bootable is the HDD. I need to enable the NIC as bootable for PXE.

The command (according to the screen) should be "Enter" to select the item in order to bring up a sub menu. It doesn't do that.

Follow UP: I figured it out. In another menu, there is an option to set PXE; it's not part of the Boot Device Configuration.

Gotta love learning new things...
