|Drives fail. IF you have that much irreplaceable data on a single drive where is your backup? Less than 25G free on a 1 TB drive? Not sure if the "Minimum15% free space" guideline applies to large drives. |
The unit should still be covered by Seagate's 5 yr warranty but they do not provide data recovery nor does the warranty cover data loss. They will only replace the hardware if found to be faulty.
Was the drive connected when you started up?
Try rebooting without it connected and then connect it once your system has completed bootup. Only other suggestion would be the old Freezer treatment. Put the drive inside a sealed airtight bag (to keep moisture out). Put it in the freezer for an hour. Take it out and connect it. If it spins up retrieve your data.
