Specs: Windows Vista
i'm having trouble with my Digital Concepts 51-in-1 SD Card Reader/Writer. I insert the SD Card from my phone, nothing happens. I went into my computer and there was no icon there for my SD card! (my desktop computer has all the corresponding drive letters in My Computer (ie: E,F,G,H) for all the slots in that card reader, and I can use it without any problems.) when I plug the same SD card into my laptop, the LED on the card reader flashes once or twice, then nothing. please help! Other slots work, like the CF card reader

Is it the card reader or the SD card that has the problem? When you talk about the card reader slots you say ". . . . I can use it without any problems." Use what? Do you mean other SD cards work but that particular one won't?

Did that card ever work in that reader? If not, maybe it's not compatible. They make so many different kinds.

Also, are you talking about a card reader mounted on the case or one you plug into an external USB port?

You're not really green until you're soylent green.

You mean the SD card works in your phone and desktop but not in your laptop? We're not sitting there with you and need a better explanation of what's going on.

Sorry about my vague inquiry. Looking at the device now, I had a serious brain fart when writing my inquiry. Please allow me to start over. Firstly, it was the SIM card reader, NOT the SD card reader that wasn't working right. The device has 6 different slots.

I have the card reader connected by USB to my lap top. I bought the device to get pictures off my camera as well as my cell phone. The CF card that comes from my camera works splendidly. I was also able to use the SD card reader as well to download the photos from an old phone. Now, as stated earlier, I said it was the SD reader in the device that wasn't working....in actuality, it was the SIM card reader that I couldn't get to respond. Sorry for that mistake...I was quite frustrated evidently.

When I inserted the SIM card from my phone, into the Card Reader device, the LED light on the reader blinked a couple times, but didn't respond. When I tried my wife's SIM card from her phone, I got the same result, so I'm pretty sure it's not my SIM card.

I have never been able to use the SIM card reader slot for this device. I do know I'm using the right slot, as it is labelled SIM. As to whether it is compatible otherwise, I don't know how to determine that.

I am able to pull up the pictures in my cell phone, but that's irrelevant as it doesn't even seem to identify when I put the SIM card into the reader. Crappy POS from China, I guess.

I hope I've given further explanation for help. Thanks again. Oh, by the way, the soylent green comment is hilarious. Thanks

SIM card huh? That puts me in unexplored territory.

What brand? One of the Sakar readers from Radio Shack?

The brand name is Digital Concepts. It has "6 SLOTS HI SPEED 51-IN-1 CARD READER/WRITER" written on the front of it. Model Number was CR-75P..Not familiar as to what or who Sakar is, but yes, it did come from Radio Shack.

I never heard of being able to read a sim card in a reader. I have a Motorola phone and use Motorola phone tools software to download pictures. There may be software for your phone too. Check it out.

Must be the reader then. I'm not familiar with sim cards used in that context but maybe you can take it back to radio shack and get another model--maybe not an 'all in one' type. Here's one google found:

Sakar and Digital Concepts, I believe, are the same animals.

You may need the software from Sakar they call "Sim Card Editor Software"

Worth a try before you give up on that thing. Seems like many have had problems getting it to work or even setting it up.

Tried the SIM Card Editor Software to no avail. I emailed the company to see if they had any ideas. Thanks all for your help.

I went through the EXACT same issue about a year ago, and
actually spoke with someone from the company. They were
no help, and the short version is, you bought a piece of
garbage. The company was no help. I brought the unit back
to radioshack, and they were no help, but gave me another
one that didn't work either.
At the time I was running vista. Now I've upgraded to
Windows 7, and thought I would try it again. No luck.
No matter what card you put in, it won't read it.
When I click on Sim editor 4.0 icon, all I get is a box that
says "Please plug in device!" .
My laptop has 4 USB ports and I tried it in all of them. I
mention this because the first thing out of both RadioShack
and Sakar's mouth was "you USB port must be bad). By the
way the USB ports work with EVERY OTHER device I own,
except this paperweight.

Sorry for your problems
