screen flicks and turn off

March 6, 2010 at 04:07:30
Specs: Windows Vista
Recently i got a laptop, acer travelmate 8200 series inter core 2 with windows xp, but the screen flicks when plugged in and doesn't charge well. it was plugged in for the whole night and only 15% was charged. And also the battery indicator never lights up. whether the battery is charging or the computer is working with only battery.

The flicking stops when the battery is out and directly connected to power but still it will turn off it self suddenly in the middle of the work. Not always but most times turning the whole computer to the left turns off the computer. i thought there is something loose inside but it doesn't explain why it shut down when it's not moving. i installed windows vista and all the drivers for vista if it was software problem, but the the problem got worsen.

can some one please help me

Is it new or was it used? If it's new, it's under warranty.

The shutting down could be due to heat buildup. Look to see if the vents are free of dust. Elevate the machine by using two books, one placed on each end and see if it helps. The charging problem could be a bad battery or a faulty charger. It's up to you to decide how much money you want to put into it. Good Luck.

have you checked the jack where ac plugs in they are known for becoming lose solder joints they get pulled and twisted on and dont make good connections for charging battery or running laptop. try this when plugged in move connector around where it plugs in to laptop.very common problem mat have to take it in to have repaired
