Hey all. Got a question for ya. Was playing wow, went to log out and my whole screen flickered rapidly then went black, did a hard boot, as my laptop rebooted I noticed lines across my screen, in kind of a checker bord pattern. Rows of Thick and thin bars across the middle of the screen. When it booted to windows, My screen rez was set really low and all the colors looked like I had booted to safe mode.
Now when I try to boot it up I can see rows of yellow bars at the HP screen, and then the checker bord bars at the windows screen. Hp told me it was like 3 different things, Had me do a HDD test that came out ok, then told me to do a recovery with my back up disks. When I tryed to do that, I got a Restore7.exe error and it reboots. Does this sound like a software issue or? Any of you guys have any suggestions? The pc is less then 2 years old but sadly is no longer covered by Hp.
Thanks for any help or info.

I could be several things, but the most likely in my view would be your video card. Can you remove it yourself and take it to a shop to be checked?

I just checked with HP and sadly they are saying its integrated. Going to call them in the morning about extended service plans.
If you have any other ideas or tips I'm all ears. I have a feeling they are going to stick it to me lol. And thanks for the quick reply, and help!

Overheating is a common problem with laptops. Let it cool off and see if it helps.

Well, its been two days unpluged. And its still has the bars on start up. about 4 hours after the first crash it started up just fine, screen looked good ect. But I opened up quick play and the screen flickered, and went black again. Been unpluged for about 48 hours now and its still messed up. So guessing your right its the video card. Just just have to save up and send it in. Thank you very much though for the help, and suggestions. At least I don't feel like its a just trashed now, have a bit of hope yet. Thanks again!
