screen doesn't show red

November 5, 2009 at 18:56:36
Specs: Windows XP
I have a monitor that has been working fine for a while now, but all of a sudden, the red changes to black. so now everyplace red should be, it's gone. I checked the cable, and it's pretty secure. I also plugged in another monitor, and the same thing happened. Also, when i go to the menu on my monitor, the color red shows up, so it must be a problem with the computer. I have no idea what it could be, and i need to find out so i can get it replaced or fixed.

It'd have to be the video card since you've eliminated the monitor and cable connection as possibilities.

can you recommend a good one without being too expensive?

I wouldn't have any recommendations. It's going to depend on if you're running any software that has specific video needs and also what your motherboard is capable of handling. For example AGP slots don't necessarily accomodate every type of AGP card. Also, newer motherboard likely have a PCI-E slot for that type of card.
