I am running XP Pro on an HP nw9440 workstation laptop. The machine is a few years old now and the screen is not the brightest although it is fine for everyday use. When it boots up and the desktop first appears it is nice and bright and then almost immediately it goes a little darker. I don't think it is a fault and I removed the adobe gamma from the startup menu to see if it was that but it still does it. I also changed power option to desktop but still it happens. More of a niggle than anything else but as I do illustration on this I really need it as bright as possible. It does have an ambient light sensor but I have it turned off. When I turn it on in the evenings you can really see it go dim to save energy. Any ideas?
Its definitely on full brightness via the f10 method. Its immediately after I get to the windows desktop...like some profile or setting kicks in. Really bugging me as the screen looks perfect just before it happens. It is really subtle and only ever happens this once so it isnt a fault with the LED panel.
