749 as a number by itself means nothing. Is that kBs, MBs or Gbs notwithstanding that 749 is an unusual number any circumstances.

What it could be telling you is the free memory availalbe.

Where are you coming up with this number? I doubt there's a game out there that will make total use of 2GB video memory.

It is 749MB video memory and the game is "Witcher 2" which has just been released for PC recently. My brother has a 5800 series card and he's getting higher frame rates during gameplay than my card. The game gave me recommended settings for the game to "Medium" while his one is recommened "High"

Are the two computers identical, if not it is impossible to make a direct caparison.

RAM, CPU, motherboard and other things running at the same time can have an effect.

what is sad is that I just replaced my EVGA 460 which can run Witcher 2 at "High" settings no problem with the Sapphire Radeon 6970 that says I can only run it at "Medium" settings.
