Restarting hangs at Bios

February 16, 2013 at 19:22:16
Specs: Windows 7
When Rebooting My Acer aspire notebook from Windows, choosing Restart, the computer hangs after restarting, I see a flashing dash on black screen. Shutdown the comp will solve the problem and boot normally! I have 3 Os installed, all of them ahve the same issue, so I'm guessing it has to be Bios related?
Any suggestions?

I would suspect that it's a problem with the boot manager. Is it hanging after the boot manager gives you the choice which OS you want to boot? Which OS is in the first partition? Windows wants to be first. What boot manager are you using?

The boot manager has not loaded yet. First Primary part is a system partition of 200Mb I made before installing all the Os. Win7 on sec prim. part., xp on third prim. part and win8 in the logical drive.
I mainly use the windows bootmanager, but use plop bootmanager to boot into xp.
I used vistabootpro (installed on win7) to edit the bootloader: it has an option where u choose an ISO image that u can boot from (f. ex plop bootmanger which uses Linux)
This works fine, I can load the bootmanager and select xp to boot from.
But if I restart from within XP (or other os) it won't reboot unless shutting down first!
Also, if I click reboot option from the plop bootmanager, the same thing happens!

If you have any usb stuff plugged in, unplug all of it...worth a try.

I read two things on another forum. Try the Crtl key when you reboot or add Plop to the boot.ini file in XP.
