Resolution has gone funny on lap top

May 13, 2013 at 00:08:25
Specs: Windows 7
Have just reinstalled windows on my laptop and display was too big, tried to change it from control panel, but somehow really stretched it and then messed around with display properties and this has resulted in display looking pixalated and sort of like a negative; although in colour. I can't use system restore as there is no previous restore point.

Hi Flissb,

Please install the video driver using the drivers disk you got with the system.

Also, try changing the resolution using the link mentioned below:

Hi Manshu,

Thanks for getting in touch. I was too impatient to wait for a response, so I reinstalled windows 7 again, it did clear up the funny screen, but back to original problem of display being too wide. I checked control panel and resolution is 1024 x 768. I did put in the driver disc as you advised, but there are two video drivers listed; although neither are ticked. So, could you advise what I should do now? Did the video driver(s) automatically get installed when I loaded Windows? I guess I could live with this as at least I can see what's displayed, but just a bit annoying.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Kind regards
Felicity

You didn't post the make/model or your laptop so we have no idea what graphics type you're working with or which drivers you should be installing. It's possible that you have a dual graphics system in which case 2 different drivers would have to be installed. Please post the make/model.

Hi Felicity,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

I agree with riider that providing System Model and make would help me provide you the direct link of the drivers.

Thanks & Regards
