I got my girlfriend a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop pretty cheap and it works pretty good with one exception, the battery % is inaccurate. It charges up to either 98 or 99% and running off battery will run quite a few hrs on the battery, 2.5 or so? but for some reason when it discharges it goes really slow till it hit's 50% then drops down to 8% and battery low warning comes on.

I know laptops usually only run maybe 3 hrs or so on battery so it's probably still ok but for some reason windows won't read how much power it has correctly. Is there a way to reset this?

Pretty cheap huh?

There is nothing you can do to fix it is my guess, short of a new battery from a quality company.

Well I think $50 was cheap for a no frills laptop. I'll just wait till the battery life is shorter before I consider purchasing a new battery.
