I am trying to replace the hard drive in a acer aspire 3000 laptop and i want to know if that hard drive would work or any other brand. It currently has a Seagate Momentus 60.0GB Hard drive i think its a SATA ATA-6 Drive but im not sure.

According to the specs, you have a sata ata-6 drive. I wouldn't see why any Sata ata-6 drive wouldn't work. The brand is personal preference. Seagate or Western Digital are reliable drives.

If you have a copy of xp to install, you could do that, or you can get a copy of the original restore cd's from acer. If you do install xp from the xp cd, you'll probably have to reinstall all of the chipset drivers for your mobo and devices. They can be had on the Acer site. Then it's on to the service packs. You only need SP2 or SP3. Good Luck
