Just remove the old one, remove the cradle, attach cradle to new drive and re-insert, XP will see it as an Optical Drive if it is recognised in the BIOS.

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....

Usually they come in a pre-made bay deal. If the system was offered with a dvd then it should be no problem at all. Usually some few clips or screws and in and out.

Basically boot to bios and see if the thing now see's the dvd.

A Pit Bull is like a gun you can pet. And there is no safety on it.

On the D610, there won't be a cradle, just press the button and it will pop out. The DVD drive will fit back in the same way.
