computer was scans by x ray at airport in baggage area when i turnd it on only white screen will appear shuts down fine starts up only white

There is just no way airport security scanners can damage a laptop screen my friend, otherwise thousands of business travellers would be screaming about it. It's just a coincidence your screen problem started after being through the scanner.

More likely your laptop has been thrown around quite a bit by baggage handlers.
Test the hard drive with DOS diagnostic software, links here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm...

If the hard drive is okay, perform Factory Recovery, but first remove the hard drive and connect it to another PC to backup your data.
